Welcome to our new CEO

On behalf of the Board, I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Rhys Tregenza as Outback Futures’ new CEO.

Rhys has served as our Chief Financial Officer for the past eight years and more recently as Deputy CEO. His deep understanding of our mission and operations, combined with his steady leadership, make him exceptionally well-positioned to guide Outback Futures into its next chapter.

Rhys’s appointment follows our former CEO Brent Sweeney’s decision to step down from this role, due to personal reasons, after five years of dedicated service as CEO. Brent’s leadership has been instrumental in shaping the growth and direction of Outback Futures. He has expanded the vision of the organisation through securing new projects and opening up areas of operation outside of our established regions. The Board and I thank Brent for his commitment and service.

We’re pleased to share that Brent will continue to play a vital role within the organisation as our Business Strategy and Projects Lead. In his new role, Brent will focus on enhancing our strategic impact and long-term sustainability, developing marketable products and services, growing corporate and government partnerships, and securing high-value grants.

Thank you for supporting our work in remote Queensland communities and we’re excited about what lies ahead.

Peter Whip
Chair, Outback Futures
